This teaching model of catheterization of the urinary bladder was prepared at Index Medical College, Indore, India, in December 2012 (Figure). It was made by thermocol box, plaster of Paris, fabric colours, plastic tube and gelatine film. In contrast to the other commercially available models, the most innovative and unique feature of this model was that it showed internal view of catheterization of the urinary bladder and demonstrated important steps such as proper time of inflation of balloon, insertion, deflation and removal of catheter. Being inexpensive, it can be used for training of medical students, nursing students and healthcare providers at large. The Medical Council of India has included the model for catheterization of bladder in the list of suggested models for the development of skills laboratory in medical colleges as part of teaching method.
