We agree that bone formation and resorbtion markers would have contributed to the data in literature, however bone resorbtion markers like tartarate resistant acid phosphatase, hydroxyproline, pyridinium cross links and telopeptides are not routinely done in our laboratory. Alkaline phosphatase enzyme and serum calcium are routinely done. Other bone formation markers like osteocalcin and procollagen 1 extention peptide are not routinely done at our laboratory and there were financial constrains in procuring the kits.
